Field of activity

The field of activity includes the independent clarification and treatment of diseases and injuries in the oral and maxillofacial region; the examination and consultation for the exclusion and prevention of diseases in the oral and maxillofacial region; the issuing of dental certificates and the provision of dental reports.

Professional qualification/ further training

A person who has completed dental studies at a university or college in Switzerland or in a state party to the EEA and who can provide evidence of further specialist training in accordance with Art. 74 to 76 is qualified.

Special features

The dentist must consult a specialist in anesthesiology for general anesthesia. The license to practice dentistry as a freelance dentist includes the right to run a dental laboratory. The dentist may only call himself a specialist dentist in orthodontics or periodontology if he has completed specialist further training in accordance with Art. 75 or 76.
