Field of activity

The field of activity includes water, heat, cold and electrotherapy as well as manual massage.

Professional aptitude/further training

Professional aptitude is possessed by anyone who can prove with a certificate of competence that they have completed at least two years of training at a recognized school for medical masseurs and can provide evidence of at least one year of further practical training. The practical further training can be completed at a physical therapy facility, in particular a rheumatism clinic, a private specialist doctor for physical medicine, a freelance physiotherapist or a medical masseur.

Special features

Diagnosis, prescription and dispensing of medicines, internal massage of abdominal organs is prohibited.

Licensing procedure and requirements

In accordance with Health Act Art. 7 ff and Health Ordinance Art. 51 to 53.
